Upstairs Gallery

The Blue Nile is delighted to host the work of Emily Guinn.  Her collages will be exhibited on the walls of the Upstairs Gallery through May 29, 2013.

Artist Statement:

“The Rest of the Road,” celebrates the idea that as we embrace our circumstances and seasons of life, we can look ahead with expectant hope, even joy, despite inevitable hardships. It comes from one of my favorite quotes, a toast, anticipating what is yet to come: “If it’s half as good as the half we’ve known, here’s ‘Hail!’ to the rest of the road!” Let’s step boldly into tomorrow with a sense of courageous anticipation and acceptance.

Lower-level Gallery

The Lower-level Gallery is pleased to present a collection of paintings by Elwood S. Madison III.  His work will be on display through June 6, 2013.
Elwood Madison III was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley. Although he is often away for work and leisure he still happily resides and keeps his studio in downtown Harrisonburg.

Artist Statement:
In order to evolve we must continually expunge our unwanted identities.
We lay to rest pieces of ourselves.
One may view these characteristics as battered vessels that serve no longer any great purpose. We would be wise to sever the rigging and see them to the depths of non-existence.

Upcoming Exhibitions

The Upstairs Gallery will host Mary Yoder’s collection of works in acrylic, watercolor, and block printing entitled, “Nostalgia.”  The opening reception will be held on June 7th from 6 to 8pm.

The Lower-level Gallery will feature the work of Kyle Herr in acrylic, gauche, and oil pastel.  The exhibition, “Grumpy Blues and Other Works” will open on June 7th, with a reception from 7 to 9pm.
